In order to perform well on the Step 3 a candidate should demonstrate the ability to practice independently as a primary care physician in various clinical settings. Candidates should understand the importance of Medial Ethics, Medico-legal aspects, Pharmaceutical Ads, Bio-statics, and Preventive Medicine. Ability to navigate CCS software and solve cases in correct sequence is essential.
We offer several options to prepare:
Live lectures: Face-to-face 8 days of interaction with the faculty. Discussion of CCS cases, question solving strategy, and test taking strategy are integral part of the course. It is facilitated by experienced professors, practitioners, or expert in their areas. The classroom teaching includes 450 pages of our comprehensive notes. Live lectures are held in Downtown Chicago.
Online : You will have access to view the prerecorded live lecture videos (60+ hours) creating a classroom at your will in your own living room. You will have the option to view the video at your pace and as many times as you want. The course can be attended from anywhere with internet connection. The online teaching includes discussion of question solving and test taking strategy. The study material includes our 400 of comprehensive notes will be mailed to you via United States Postal Service. Please do not activate your course until you receive the notes in the mail.
Center Based Preparation: Provides access to prerecorded live lecture videos (60 + hours) and lecture notes (450 pages). The course provides learning friendly environment supported by facilitator. The center is in Downtown Chicago and access to the center is 7 days a week (except national holidays and very severe weather conditions) 7 am to 9 pm. Spots are very limited. Center based preparation is temporarily not being offered.
Premier: Personalized tutoring is center based preparation. Along with all the accept of Center Based Preparation, this course includes close monitoring, tailored teaching, and customized study schedule in a simulating environment. Acceptance to the Premier course is subject to approval after interviewing with the faculty.
For COMLEX Level 3, this course is extended to incorporate all the osteopathic topics.
About USMLE Step 3
Step 3 is a test to assess a candidate’s ability to function independently in various clinical settings and scenarios. The exam is divided over a period of two days.
On Day 1 Foundations of Independent Practice: It is a 7-hours exam with 6 blocks. There are altogether 233 MCQs, thus each block has a maximum of 40 question. It has only MCQs and some of the newer formats based on scientific abstracts and pharmaceutical advertisements.The areas covered are application of foundational science, understanding biostatistics and epidemiology. Other areas that are tested include medical literature interpretation, health maintenance, medical ethics, preventive medicine. Also, it involves content that requires a candidate to be proficient in the knowledge of history and physical examination, diagnosis and the use of different diagnostic techniques.
On Day 2 Advanced Clinical Medicine: It is a 9-hours exam with 180 MCQs followed by 13 CCS problems. The 180 MCQs are divided into 6 blocks with 30 MCQs in each block. The CCS problems are allotted 10 or 20 minutes each. Areas covered include assessment of knowledge of diagnosis and management, which a concentration in diagnosis and management. Prognosis, outcome, decision making, health maintenance and screening, therapeutics. This day involves multiple choice questions and computer-based case simulations.
